Ch. 25.3 — Janine slammed the door shut and locked it. Then she sank down against the door and burst into tears. Freddie sat in her lap and licked her face. Fritter came and sat beside her, holding her hand. Finally, she heaved a big sigh and ran a hand through her unruly hair. “Honestly, I wish they’d just stop bothering me.”
“Perhaps a sign by the mailbox would be helpful,” said Jay as he went through the corridor on his way to the breakfast room.
Janine lifted her head and smiled through her tears. “Why Jay, that’s very thoughtful of you. I’ll make one this morning.”
