I love to read. I have to admit, there's nothing better on a cold winter's day than to curl up on the couch with a good book, your dog snoozing beside you, a crackling fire in the fireplace, and a bowl of chocolate pretzels on the table within easy reach. I sure miss my dog!
Review of Fire Country by David Estes - FIVE STARS I couldn't put Fire Country down and ended up reading until very late. I loved Siena's character. Her strong voice resonated with me. As the conflict was rising in the story, I kept thinking, "Siena, what are you waiting for? Get out of there!" But… Continue reading Fire! Fire!
Last night we watched the Academy Awards, the event where the who’s who of Hollywood pays tribute to its own for excellence in film, the MC cracks tasteless jokes, and we see the amazing results of plastic surgery and Botox. The best part of the evening was when the cast of Les Miserables came out… Continue reading And the Oscar goes to…

Dr. Tess Coleman and her teenage daughter, Anna, don’t understand or appreciate each other. When an encounter with magic fortune cookies makes them switch bodies, they… Continue reading Live Laugh Love
Oh, oh. I feel a cold coming on. You know, that scratchy throat-stuffy nose-brain barely there kind of feeling? You know what they say: the best thing for a cold is to take vitamin C, drink plenty of fluids, and rest. That sounds like a perfect excuse to curl up in bed with a stack… Continue reading For a Cold
Happy Valentine’s Day! Some legends say that the original Valentine was a third century priest who lived in Rome, who was imprisoned and eventually killed when he refused to stop performing marriages (Emperor Claudius II had outlawed marriage for young men who were soldiers). Still others say that Valentine fell in love with a girl… Continue reading True Love
Neil Gaiman addressed the University of the Arts class of 2012. I thought it was so inspiring, I'd share it with you.
Have you ever watched a beauty pageant where the contestant is asked what she wants, and she says, ‘World peace’? Do you really want world peace? Then read to a child. There is no experience that quite compares with having a little child settle his soft weight on your lap, book in hand. “Read me… Continue reading World Peace
